Proof that LIME Reads MoneyMax101 -They Sign Yohan Blake!

It was just ONE day after we posted (quite negatively) about LIME giving a 3 year contract to Kirani James, the virtually unknown Grenadian 400-m World Champion, that LIME finally gave us an opportunity to eat a slice of humble pie.

Ohh Noo!! LIME actually got it right! Lol. Great Job Guys!

After scratching our heads for an hour about why LIME insists on signing the “wrong” people guess what? LIME has signed Yohan Blake as its Brand Ambassador under comparable contractual arrangements as James. Good Job LIME.

The Jamaica Observer reports,

Telecommunications company LIME yesterday announced a major three-year sponsorship deal with 100m world champion Yohan Blake naming the athlete as its latest brand ambassador.

Under the deal Blake will be a major part of LIME’s 2012 London Olympic Games, as well as the company’s celebration of Jamaica’s 50th year of Independence.

Similarly, in an article in the Saturday Gleaner, the paper agreed with our cogently articulated argument for linking with the best-of-the-best, or those hot upcoming athletes. The Gleaner reported;

Last season was a breakout one for Yohan Blake, who established himself as one of the top sprinters in the world, after he claimed the 100m World Championships title and followed that up with the second-fastest 200m in history, 19.26 seconds.

It would be interesting to know the total value of this endorsement, along with LIME’s total endorsements which should include Asafa Powell, Damian Marley, Mavoda, Beenie Man, along with a host of others. LIME has also spent a considerable on advertising its Mobile TV and Peppa, one of its TV Channels. LIME Jamaica spent J$1.2 billion on marketing for the financial year ended March 2011, more than twice the total expenditure for the 2010 financial year (J$519.0 million).

Previously we wrote:

Most people would have thought that LIME would try to sponsor the ACTUAL next Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, or the other fastest man in the world Asafa Powell, or the trailer load of Jamaican  female runners who will more likely than not, mine more gold than a leprechaun’s bucket could hold. Those stars have been long established, have a brand to themselves and actually compete in the crowd grabbing races. But hey, LAIME of course, does not think like most people. Read the full post

Keep reading MoneyMax101 for ideas that will work :D. Thumbs up LIME.
