No Love For Scammers. Government Moves To Wipe Out J$300 Million Lost Each Year

At Least 30,000 Calls Made To The United States Daily

It’s well known that there has been an increase in the number of reported cases of scamming over the past few years. There has also been an increase in the number of Jamaican perpetrators involved.

Well, the House of Representative here in Jamaica has recently passed a bill, seeking more stringent methods and means of prosecuting those found guilty of this treacherous act.

“Authorities say at least 30,000 calls are made daily from Jamaica to the US as part of the scams. Suspects usually tell victims they’ve won millions but must first wire payments to cover taxes before they can receive the prize. The scams generate at least $300 million a year.” (AP)

Who do you think really should be blamed and punished, the scammer or the ‘scammeree’?
