In case you did not know, the reigns of the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) are now being held by former Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Collin Bullock.
The Planning Insitute of Jamaica is the Government’s foremost planning authority.
“As the planning agency of the Government, the PIOJ’s functions include initiating and coordinating the development of policies, plans and programmes for the economic, financial, social, cultural and physical development of Jamaica.”
Bullock, whose resume boasts experiences at the Ministry of Finance & Planning as Financial Secretary (May ’05- May ’08) and at the Bank of Jamaica as Deputy Governor (1986), appeared to be the perfect candidate for the post when it became vacant.
Bullock takes over from Everton McFarlane, who is now relegated to the Policy Coordination & Development Planning body in the office of the Financial Secretary.
We do hope the decision made by the Finance Ministry to instate Bullock as the head of the PIOJ is more a blessing and a curse. Our best wishes to you Mr. Collin Bullock.
